Rome, Italy - Feb 2, 2016-Feb 18, 2016
Last year was the first time ever travelling without my parents & brother to go see relatives in Rome. Now let me tell you, I was pretty nervous because I haven't seen my relatives for more than 10 years and there were some I didn't see since I left Philippines 19 years ago to immigrate to Toronto.
We arrived in Rome, Italy during the evening so we didn't really see much driving to my aunt's apartment but we all had dinner together, made plans for the next morning and just catching up that night which was overwhelming! Their hospitality the whole trip was more than appreciated and I can't thank them enough for everything they provided us with! Them living in Rome helped out by avoiding being in a hotel for 2 weeks+. The next morning we decided to ROME around The Vatican City & visit the Vatican Museum. Our walk there was beautiful! We even passed by trees that I believe are called Umbrella Pine trees? Breaktfast there is completely different compared to what I would normally eat at home, even if all my relatives are filipino they had the italian style breakfast possibly because they always wake up so early to get ready for school & work. It kind of made us look like we haven't eaten for days every morning haha!
My breakfast normally (the filipino in me) would include: RICE, eggs (preferably scrambled), hot dogs and basically whatever is in my fridge.
My breakfast in Italy: Pastries such as croissants with Expresso/Coffee/Milk but eventually my boyfriend and I cooked some hotdogs and eggs as my relatives told us to make ourselves at home.
Streets are beautiful! Food is delicious .. Oh the carbonara! It's the only thing i've been ordering in restaurants and I shouldn't have done that knowing there are alot of varieties to choose from. I guess I was just playing it safe every time because I didn't want to waste the food. Architectures/structures of the buildings and churches! I have a lot of pictures I want to share but i'll just share a few. You can find them on my social media's, enjoy!
I wanted to share with you a little bit of how my first experience was like travelling to Rome, Italy with my boyfriend. First of all I was born in Rome, Italy but wasn't raised there, never had the italian experience growing up because my parents had to work there and decided they should fly me back to the Philippines with my aunt for 5 years.
