The process of my hair to get that blonde/silver/grey dye was difficult! I've been trying to get this colour for years but every salon I ended up going to always left me with brassy colour orange hair. I've been going around instagram and I found out a really popular spot for blonde hair and a balayage style. This isn't sponsored or anything like that at all, i'm just writing about it because they are really good at what they do! I went to Lisa Dinh Hair Studio this July before my Italy/France trip (booking is online) and I had Jessica do my hair, it turned out the colour I was hoping for it to be! At first I didn't know if it would suit my skin colour (tan) but the end result was everything! I loved it!
Before you read below, I'm no hair expert but I can suggest a few things that work for my hair!
My hair is really thick, frizzy, split ends & dry. I should also add that my hair does grow pretty fast after getting a haircut.
It's October now and my hair did change colour a little bit (a little bit darker than it used to be) but the Fanola No Yellow Shampoo does it's job i'm telling you! Although I don't think it does come with a conditioner or they just don't sell it at the salon and the big bottle is on the pricey side, the shampoo lasts for months. I feel like my hair colour still looks good, not as good as the first time I had it done but it still has the silver/grey blonde colour.
I will show you how my hair looks in different types of lighting: indoor & outdoor
The very first photo above was in Paris with natural lighting outdoors (sunlight), a week after I had it done.
^ How my hair looks curled. This was in Rome and it was HOT! Don't mind the messy & frizzy hair!
This photo was taken in New York 23/09/17 outdoor lighting.
These four photos were just taken now at night indoors 05/10/17.
You can definitely see that there is a difference in lighting. In person it's much more blonde/grey like the photos taken outdoors. There are days when people from my work tell me they love my hair colour & sometimes they ask if my hair has gotten lighter or if I dyed it again (that's when I use the shampoo for the day).
If you don't already know, using purple shampoo often does make your hair dry so they suggest to use it once or twice a week. I usually shower every other day so that's when I would use the Joico Shampoo K-Pak Color Therapy Shampoo & Conditioner (not sulfate free).
Now I know that sulfate shampoo's aren't great for the hair because it's capable of stripping your hair of essential oils which makes it feel like your hair has become super dry but it was suggested to me by my hair stylist (unless I had mistaken it with the Joico Color Endure Sulfate free shampoo). I haven't had a problem with the shampoo & conditioner at all but if you are really that "sulfate-free" my suggestion would be the Joico Color Endure Violet Sulfate Free (Purple Shampoo & Conditioner) or just the regular Joico Color Endure Sulfate Free Shampoo & Condition. This shampoo has a coloured red bottle. Make sure you use hair masks too btw!
I have used the Joico Color Endure Violet Sulfate Free Purple Shampoo & Conditioner to maintain & tone the blondness of my hair before but it didn't really work out for me. The Fanola No YellowShampoo is a darker purple than the Joico Purple Shampoo as you see below:
The shampoo on the left is: Joico Color Endure Violet
The shampoo on the right is: Fanola No Yellow
As much as I want to try all hair colours, I shouldn't. It will damage my hair more in the long run so this will probably be the last time you will see me with this hair colour. I will go back a few shades darker by the end of the year but will eventually stop bleaching and colouring my hair after that.
Just take care of your hair lovelies! xoxo
